The Director General of Kerman Prisons and Security and Corrective Measures said that last year 19,000 prisoners were admitted into prisons in the province. “This means that on average, every hour, 2.1 people have been jailed”, Ramezan Amiri said. “Currently, there are 12,650 prisoners in Kerman’s prisons and from these numbers, 5 percent are illiterate”, he added.
