Political prisoner Hajar Piri, who was transferred from Kerman Prison to Tabriz Prison, started a hunger strike on Tuesday January 3. She has requested to be transferred to a “decent” section and is currently on her sixth day of strike. The 33 year old was arrested on May 2007 by the Naqadeh Intelligence Agency and was detained for seven months in the Naqadeh and Orumieh Intelligence Detention Centers. In 2008, she was sentenced to 17 years of prison to be served in Kerman Prison on charges of “being a member of a Kurd dissident party and acting against national security”.
